I’m an Independent Research Director with over 10 years of experience, working for a stellar list of clients including BBC, Channel 4, 3M, Rightmove, Kellogg’s, Google, HSBC, NHS, Abbott and Smith & Nephew.
I specialise in brand and communications research - helping scope opportunities in the market, position new ideas, launch new products and develop campaigns for some of the world's leading brands. As part of this, I developed The Nursery Research's Health division.
I’ve got a degree in Psychology and certificate in Psychotherapy. I’ve been an AQR board member, industry mentor and have tutored on various topics in research.

Stuart Knapman
I’m an insight, innovation and inspiration specialist with around 25 years of experience. I’ve had senior client-side roles, I’ve run a couple of successful insight agency businesses and I’ve won some industry awards along the way.
I still love finding great insights - and helping businesses to do something interesting and original with them.
I work independently (as Man Overboard) and also get paid to share my experience with agencies, client teams and organisations such as the AQR.

James McLintock
I’m a strategist with a background in qualitative consumer research, and 15 years of experience on global projects for tech, fashion and FMCG brands. I love understanding people, telling their stories, and using that knowledge to solve business problems.
In my spare time I run a bean-to-bar chocolate business with my partner. I also occasionally teach strategy at a couple of different universities, but I’m pretty sure I learn more from that than the students do.

I’m a Creative Consultant, specialising in authenticity-driven research films to help companies understand and connect better with their audiences.
With 15 years experience, I draw from a unique combination of skills: qualitative research, ethnography, videography, documentary story-telling, script writing and fiction.
I work with some of the UK's most respected research agencies (including Craft, Differentology, Firefish, JC & Associates, MTM, The Outsiders & The Sound) on prestigious projects for multinational blue chip companies. I am also an award-winning Producer Director at We Dream Films, a social impact production collective I co-founded.

Kat Slater
I’m an independent insight and behaviour change expert with over 15 years experience working in a qualitative research context.
Through the practical application of behavioural science, I work with my clients to develop powerful strategies for behaviour change.
My work reflects the behaviour change challenges of our time – drinking less, being safer, living greener, eating better, saving more – I’ve done it all in collaboration with some wonderful charities and private sector clients. I also work extensively in campaign development for clients including The Home Office, RNLI and WWF.
I also train professional researchers in qualitative research skills and work closely with my clients to help them use insight into drive innovation and change within their organisations.

Joe Bonnell
I am an award-winning qualitative researcher, an ethnographer and documentarian. I design and conduct context-rich and person-centred qualitative research.
I have an MA (Distinction) in Visual Anthropology from The University of Manchester, which is recognised as the world’s leading centre for visual anthropology. I incorporate ethnographic filmmaking, documentary photography, observation and participatory methods into my work, alongside focus groups, interviews and online and remote ethnography approaches.
I have over 20 years’ research experience, working with brands, media agencies, broadcasters, charities, NGOs and public bodies in both the UK and internationally. I have conducted and overseen research projects in over 15 countries from the UK to Nigeria, Pakistan to Papua New Guinea and many places in between.
For the past 10 years, I have trained and mentored researchers around the world, working collaboratively and in-person to help people grow their research skills and confidence, with an emphasis on research-design, facilitation techniques and analysis.

Lauren Oswald
I’m a research and strategy consultant with over 10 years of experience. I have a background in clinical psychology and behavioural economics. I specialize in integrating customer insights into business and product design.
I work with early stage startups looking for product market fit, and large established companies seeking that innovative edge. I have served clients in industries such as technology, finance, healthcare, and sustainability.
I believe that the way to make smart decisions is to look at your problem from a systems perspective, and understand people through the lens of imperfection and complexity. It’s messy, it’s ambiguous, and it’s a truer reflection of reality.
I work independently as o systema, and also collaborate with agencies and organizations. In addition to my work as a consultant, I also mentor new researchers, and contribute articles on research methodologies and customer experience.

Jesse Dionne
I’m an expert in qualitative research. Name a category and I guarantee I’ve talked to people about their relationship with it in the past 16 years. From erectile dysfunction to energy drinks, gender issues in modern financial structures to relationships with bread - I specialize in designing and facilitating truly engaging conversations with human beings, whether online or in-person.
I also have a passion for amateur home improvement, spending as much time outside as possible and finding new hobbies to get obsessively involved with on a yearly basis.

Lisa Cowie
I’m a researcher with a commercial edge.
I specialise in advertising research, where insights can inform marketing strategy or comms. I turn volumes of output into succinct, compelling and actionable insights - whether it’s audience, media, category or brand. I focus on finding the ‘so what’ and delivering output that’s engaging – a balance of simplifying whilst not losing detail.
With 15 years working in this industry, I’ve had various research leadership roles in Twitter and Viacom Media. I’m a member of the MRS Analytics Council, and have a passion for fusing data with traditional methods, especially the use of social data for research.

I am a multidisciplinary strategy consultant & founder of Fresh Think - Strategy, Research & Branding (2016) offering sense-making and foresight expertise to global companies to grow their business by fostering deeper connections with people.
Beyond Fresh Think, I teach semiotics and ethnography to master’s students, make ethnomusicological documentaries and run a not-for-profit Umeed Project. I believe in living many lives in one and have been nomadic for a decade with my base in Canada & India.
I developed strategic thinking during my army stint. My breadth and width of experiences shaped a unique perspective and have been critical in solving complex business problems.
Ask me about polyphony in culture, sustainability, inclusive AI or how I walked 500kms in 25 days trying new methods to understand people.
